HFFM 20 Years of Continuous Action in the Museum Sector

This year, for the first time, within the framework of a series of events for the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Hellenic Federation of Friends of Museums (HFFM) and within the framework of the excellent cooperation of HFFM with the General Secretariat for Research and Technology of the Ministry of Development, we are participating in the Thessaloniki International Fair 2007, to showcase the activities of the Museums achieved through the use of New Technologies.

Award Event by HFFM for its 20th Anniversary - February 2007
In 2007, the year marking the completion of 20 years since the founding of HFFM, the now institutionalized annual award ceremony for five important personalities for their contribution to culture and the environment was held by HFFM and its President, Mrs. Lila de Chaves. The event took place on the evening of February 12, 2007, at the Benaki Museum on Pireos Street. It was placed under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, and was framed by the important concert with the internationally renowned piano soloist Tzenia Manoussaki and the German violinist Peter Clemente.

The awards this year were presented to:

Christos Zachopoulos, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, as President of the Central Archaeological Council (KAS) for his promotion & contribution to Greek Culture and the institutionalization of a Friends' office in State Museums, which is a major achievement of HFFM in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture.

Theofanis Bobotis, Architect-planner of the new Archaeological Museum of Patras for his innovative Museological perception and his creative presence internationally.

Vasso Papantoniou, Soprano, for her presence in the International Music Scene and her efforts to create a new Lyric Stage & Music Academy "Maria Callas".

Lily Venizelou, President of Medasset, for her internationally recognized action & contribution to the protection and preservation of the Mediterranean marine environment.

Professor Georgios Markou, for the international promotion of Greece & the creation of the Greek Nobel Museum.
